Khayaal Theatre Company
revitalising the dream
of virtue
Khayaal is an
award-winning British arts enterprise that develops and produces original dramatic
interpretations of classic Muslim world literature for the stage, radio and
screen.
Founded in 1997,
Khayaal is the first and only professional theatre company of its kind in the
West offering audiences a fascinating experience of Muslim world culture
through contemporary performing arts. Inspired by the universal trend within
Muslim world literature and the challenge of producing what theatre luminaries,
like Peter Brook, Jerzy Grotowski and Antonin Artaud, have described as
‘theatre of the invisible made visible’, Khayaal is creating its own brand and
genre of entertainment whose formula of wisdom and humour has won it popular
and critical acclaim, a large culturally diverse audience and international
appeal.
